First cultivated in Idaho in 1914, russet burbank potatoes have since become a favourite all over America.
In the UK too they are very popular, and for good reason. Medium in size and oval in shape, russet burbanks have light brown skin and firm white flesh that, once cooked, has a smooth texture and a deliciously buttery flavour with mildly earthy undertones.
Consumed in a similar way to other potato varieties, russet burbanks' floury texture means they are perfect for baking, mashing, and roasting •they make especially delectable chips and wedges! We would particularly recommend using them to make a crispy hasselback potato gratin, a hearty and comforting accompaniment to your meals, and heavenly fluffy mashed potatoes. Like other potatoes, russet burbank potatoes are an excellent source of fibre and potassium, and also provide good amounts of iron, folate, and vitamins C and B6.
